Smile No Camera (2011)

Once used by the Packard Motor Car Company of Canada, the LeBel building has been home to the University of Windsor's visual arts program since the 1970s. It is an unassuming, industrial style building. I spent most of my waking hours during my MFA program in this building as my studio was also conveniently tucked in a corner of this building.

During my first year, to my surprise, I noticed a complete absence of any monitoring equipment in the building. To make sure, I asked around, and my observations were confirmed (this may have now changed). This work celebrates the absence of camera and the idea of smiling without even being caught on the camera.
