Bankhead Church stairs. The Church was sawed in half and moved to Calgary when the mine closed in 1922, where it remained in use until the early 1960s.

Banff to Bankhead

Bankhead was a mining town that was vacated mainly due to the miners strike of 1922 . Over the course of next 2 years, many of the houses in Bankhead were put on wheels and moved 8 kms away to the adjacent town of Banff. This quickly transformed Bankhead from a thriving community to a ghostown. For this project, I made smalll wooden houses in Banff and walked with them to Bankhead.
