The city of Baghdad is an emblem of historical knowledge. Known as a hub of commercial and cultural capital of the Muslim world since medieval times, Baghdad continues to be a heavyweight city on the world stage. Based on Scheherazade's tales in 1001 Arabian Nights, this project used 1001 mundane images from Iraq to emphasis the unexotic nature of a city under seige. Combined with a performative narration of the images by Nadia Kurd and Riaz Mehmood, the knowledge of the city and its cultural history becomes blurred. This installation and performance was featured at Alleyjaunt in 2007.
