Burning (2012)

In the video series, I collaborated with fellow artist Mike Marcon. For this project, we built and burned a number of small-scale models that are replications of big-box stores and chain restaurants.

By creating “authentic” environments that surround these iconic structures, such as a parking lot with cars and light posts, the models become the locus of a social crisis: the burning process is documented in HD video technology giving the final presentation videos the uncomfortable, but beautiful, immediacy of watching a news reel event in a gallery setting.
